  1. What a wonderful day we had at Walton Heath. It was a fitting place to celebrate our 25th anniversary and we did it in fine style. The weather was poor for the first hour or so but it soon brightened up and certainly for those who teed off in the second half of the field, there were no complaints since the conditions improved as the day progressed.
  2. This change obviously helped those at the back of the field and one who took full advantage of the better weather was Patrick Murphy whose 40 points was good by any standards let alone a course as hard as Walton Heath. This was his second BAGS victory, the other one coming at Burhill in April 2015 but Patrick has improved steadily from the end of 2014 when he was off 20 to his new figure of 15 after this victory. Very well done Patrick and enjoy the sight of the special Claret Jug for our 25th on show at your house.
  3. Congratulations to Luke on becoming the third new member to be on the podium within the first two events. Maybe the presence of his Dad who stepped in at the last minute to replace a guest withdrawal helped him along! It's also good to see Glenn defying the early wet start for the past Captains with a great round of 38.
  4. The PCs were out in force and 16 of them were there for the photograph before Chris' drive in then teeing off behind him. His Challenge to everyone was to guess their cumulative scores and this resulted in a tie between Ray Clarke and our 2003 Captain Biddy Baxter who made a welcome return to BAGS for this very special occasion. Take a look at the web site to see the photos taken by Ian both on the course and off it. Very special is one of 20 Captains (plus a Secretary) in their finery before dinner as the original morning number had been augmented by the arrival of our President Roy Jennings, Mike Corliss and Peter Lambert as well as the new kid on the block Chris Presley, now qualified as a Captain after his official (and straight) drive in.
  5. Just to add icing on the cake we had a hole in one from Justin Pollard who is a regular guest of Glenn's but on this occasion had moved down (the word is chosen deliberately!) to my group as his host was on duty with the PCs. This was the 11th ace in 25 years of BAGS and the third one in my group (Chris Hodgson and Ian being the others) so clearly I have some sort of inspirational quality for others if not myself! Thank you Justin for generously putting wine on the table to celebrate your memorable feat.
  6. The food at WH was absolutely superb as always and the occasion was made even more special by a great speech from Chris which struck just the right notes then a wonderful Awards Ceremony Oscar style from the imitable duo of Jon and Ian who gave a memorable performance full of hilarity recalling BAGS' moments to remember over the 25 years. The evening just flew by and will linger long in the memories of those who were privileged to be there. I have kept back a few copies of the Anniversary programme which contains all the results from 25 years of BAGS golf and will offer them at Hever to those who missed out on the WH day.
  7. Back to reality with the majors beginning to take shape and Dan, Glenn and Luke are setting the early pace in the Chairman's with 72 and two 70s - not a bad start to the season.
  8. John and Roger have now completed the Draws for the KOs and these will be issued over the weekend as well as being displayed on the web site in due course.
  9. Our Hever event is following on soon so please pay your money quickly then the OOP can be issued in the next week or so. This will be a 9 + 18 event with the warm up nine being on the shorter Princes course. The Club has a lovely setting being within sight of the iconic Castle dating back to Tudor times and let us hope that the rain relents enough to allow buggies for those who need them.
  10. Thanks to those who have paid the second tranche of their tour money. Could the others follow suit in the next day or two. We do now have two available places for Cornwall which promises to be a great location with some exciting plans and truly memorable courses at Trevose, St Enodoc and Carlyon Bay with great accommodation in villas and bungalows.
  11. If you are wanting to order some clothing to mark our 25th anniversary please send your wish list to me soon as I shall be putting in the requirements shortly with our supplier. Remember that virtually any garment can be ordered and at very reasonable prices so make sure you are one of the first proudly to mark your Society's very special anniversary.

Thank you again to all members for the last 25 years and I will treasure my engraved wine coaster.
